To connect your own AI to the Copiafy AI Agent CRM For Financial Professionals, open your AI of choice, choose Connect OpenRouter and approve Copiafy. Then add credits and pick a model. It takes about five minutes, and after that the agent can prep meetings, draft client replies and keep your files current.

Want to follow along? Start your Copiafy trial and keep this guide open.

Why connect your own AI?

You choose the model, and you pay your AI provider directly for what you use, with no Copiafy surcharge on top. Copiafy still protects your clients' details: names, emails and phone numbers are replaced with codes before anything reaches the AI.

What it's worth, as an estimate with your own numbers: 30 minutes saved a working day is about 10 hours a month, or $1,500 of your time at $150 an hour. Hours saved × your hourly rate.

Before you start

  • Plan: any Copiafy plan - Launch, Practice or Team.

  • Time: about five minutes.

  • Have ready: a card to add AI credits. A small amount is enough to start.

Steps

  1. Open Your AI. In the Copiafy menu, under Plan & billing, choose Your AI. If you open the assistant first, you'll see a Connect your AI card with the same options.

  2. Choose Connect OpenRouter. OpenRouter is marked Recommended: one connection gives you leading models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. Sign in to OpenRouter, or create a free account, and approve Copiafy. You come straight back to Copiafy, and OpenRouter shows as In use, with the last four characters of its key.

  3. Add credits. Choose Add OpenRouter credits and add a small amount to start. You can top up any time, and OpenRouter shows what each request cost. [confirm: OpenRouter's spending-limit setting for the key] Reading along without an account? Start your Copiafy trial and pick up at Step 1.

  4. Choose a model. Under Model, leave Auto (recommended), which picks a fast or stronger model per request. Or choose one model for everything, such as Claude Sonnet 5.5 — best balance (recommended). Then choose Save.

  5. Ask your first question. Choose Open the assistant and type: "Who needs my attention today?" The agent looks through your clients, leads and messages and answers in one list.

  6. Confirm your first change. Ask for a change, such as "Set a follow-up with Maria for next Tuesday." The agent shows a card with the current value and the new one. Choose Confirm to save it, or Cancel.

You're set up. Every request now appears on your Activity page, with which AI answered and what was protected before sending.

Prefer an OpenAI or Anthropic key?

On Your AI, choose OpenAI key or Anthropic key. Paste your key under Paste a key, choose Test key, then Add my key. That provider bills you directly. Create a key in your OpenAI account or Anthropic Console, and add credit there first.

Five requests to try first

  • "Who needs my attention today?"

  • "Prep me for my next meeting." A one-page brief: goals, recent changes, open tasks and questions to ask.

  • "Draft a reply to Maria's last message." You review it before anything is sent.

  • "Which clients are due for a review this month?"

  • "Add a lead from today's referral and set a follow-up for Tuesday."

For a bigger job, ask for it all at once: "Prep my afternoon meetings and draft follow-ups for anyone I haven't answered." The agent shows its plan first, then works through each step.

What your client sees

Your clients see your work, not the AI. A portal message goes to them only after you confirm it, and their details are replaced with codes before any request reaches the AI.

Tips

  • Start on Auto. It keeps quick lookups fast and inexpensive, and uses a stronger model for longer jobs.

  • Teach it once. When you like how the agent handled a job, ask it to save that as a skill, and reuse it next time.

  • Keep an eye on spend in your AI provider's account. You only pay for what you use.

FAQ

How much does the AI cost with Copiafy? You pay your AI provider directly for what you use, and Copiafy adds no AI surcharge. With OpenRouter you add credits to your account; with an OpenAI or Anthropic key, that provider bills you. The agent itself is included in every Copiafy plan.

Which AI model should I choose? Start with Auto, which picks a fast model for quick lookups and a stronger one for longer jobs. If you want one model every time, Claude Sonnet 5.5 is the recommended balance of quality and cost.

Does the AI see my clients' names? No. Copiafy replaces clients' names, emails and phone numbers with codes before anything is sent to the AI, and masks Social Security numbers. Your Activity page shows what was protected for each request.

Can I switch AI providers later? Yes. Open Your AI, choose a different option and save. Your conversations, saved skills and client records stay as they are.

What happens if my AI credits run out? The agent tells you your AI account is out of credit and changes nothing. Add credits with your AI provider and ask again.
